We do things a little differently
ABOUT US
A story of cats & kerosene*
* No cats were harmed in the making of Pathfindr
THE SECRET LIFE OF THE CAT
Ben, our current CTO, along with several founding team members, previously worked at a local marketing agency in Norwich called Bigdog (now acquired by The Mission Group PLC). During his time there, Ben developed wayfinding technology for supermarkets to help customers find products faster.
His blog post on the project caught the attention of BBC producers, who wanted to adapt the technology for a BBC Horizon documentary, “The Secret Life of the Cat.” Ben and the team modified the solution to include optical cameras and infrared signals from the cats’ collars, allowing 24/7 tracking of their movements and behavior, which was then analysed by animal behavior experts.
In short, cats don't venture very far from home!
THE SECRET LIFE OF THE HIGH-BYPASS TURBOFAN JET ENGINE
This involvement with the BBC documentary attracted the interest of a senior executive at Rolls Royce Civil Aerospace, who saw potential in adapting the technology for asset monitoring to improve operational efficiencies.
And that’s how Pathfindr was born! With the support of Rolls Royce, we found innovative ways to use our technology, continually developing and perfecting our suite. Starting with Bluetooth location tracking, we now offer a comprehensive technology suite featuring multiple sensors in Tags and Ultra-Wide Band high precision tracking. Plus, we’ve developed various spin-off technologies for other customers.
Our technology is now used across many industries in diverse applications. We continue to innovate and improve our offerings, ensuring our technology meets the evolving needs of our clients. As we look to the future, we’re excited to explore new possibilities and tackle the next big challenge.
OUR APPROACH
Enterprise quality, startup attitude
COLLABORATIVE, LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIPS
Our products and services are designed with industry in mind, solving real-world challenges and problems we have observed in person.
This ensures everything we do makes a difference to our customers. Pathfindr staff are in regular contact with all customers, including on-site visits and performance reviews.
TECHNOLOGY AGNOSTIC
We believe it is important to focus on the opportunity afforded by Industrial IoT rather than the technology itself. This technology-agnostic approach means we will always recommend the most appropriate solution for customers, bringing more modern technologies into the product suite as and when they become commercially and operationally feasible. It means we aren’t limited to a pre-defined range of technologies which might not actually be best for all customers.
USER CENTERED DESIGN
Most of our team come from web and software design backgrounds, and have worked for many years in User Experience roles. We always ensure that we keep the user at the centre of our design decisions in order to develop and maintain products that are intuitive and simple to use.
